I still remember when I bought my very first Barbara í
Gongini item. It was a black leather jacket, which, if you follow this
blog, you'll have seen it before. That was about 3 years ago - and yes, I still wear it.
It was about £450, and I was fucking proud because I had earned the money
myself. I fell in love with the brand immediately. Therefore, Barbara í Gongini
is very special to me, and was, probably, the show I was looking most forward
to see. Damn, it was beautiful. It was everything I imagined, and more.
I spoke to Barbara after the show, and she explained to me,
where her inspiration came from. Firstly, it’s not hard to imagine the the
Faroese mountains, the dark days and nights, both in the colour scale and in
the raw materials as many leather items. Also, she confirmed that the very
heavy beat dominating the show associated with the resounding sounds in the
Faroe Islands' the mountains and valleys. However, most fascinating was the way
she explained how the tulle headpieces, was sounds and techno music broken
down, creating shapes and model for the pieces - as I understood it.
The tailor work was ON FUCKING SPOT and I just really can’t
wait to get my fingers on all the pieces. I have spotted at least a couple of things;
I'd love to take home. She is really freaking great.
