MY WARDROBE - this episode: VINTAGE

So this is a quite controversial topic, as many people either loves it or hate it (Like Titanic - I for once hate it). Anyways, the topic is of course VINTAGE. Vintage basically means: clothing from a certain era or decade e.g the Gatsby style from the twenties, or the women liberation through the sixties and seventies. Clothing from a different era. This means there's a difference between secondhand clothing and vintage.
So, the last couple of years, vintage as a concept, has blossomed in the fashion industry, making it hip and something a lot of people like to be associated with.
A girl asked me quite recently if I knew any places to buy vintage in Copenhagen? Yes I did. There are tons of places. But this is the root of the problem some might say. I answered the girl (as the fucking snob some might argue I am) there is tons of places but I'm not a particular fan of episode and wasteland, as they mass storage and produce the individual pieces thus killing the biggest joy of vintage: hunting it down. One of the biggest pleasures, for me at least, is finding the clothes. Digging though loads and loads of stinky shit, and finally finding the perfect brocade jacket; a shirt so beautiful in its colours, slightly changing in the light, the its like a treasure made by ARMANI; or something third. This is vintage is its finest. But vintage is not only the clothes, no - there are tons of other benefits from the "concept vintage" such as its reducing the production of new clothes, (which must be a good thing in these times) and is often actually really good quality, bounced of the prize.
Yet I do understand why some people could find vintage unappelaling, I mean, most of the shops smells of vintage, the clothes is not always in ten different sizes or different colors and thereby limit you. Some people just don't like the idea of others been wearing their clothes before themselves. Tbh, I find this quite ridiculous because I think the 'pro's are bigger than the 'con's. Vintage or reuse as a concept is not only beneficial for you but for everybody.

So, I wanted to show you some of my favorite vintage pieces from my own 'collection'

This jacket is, obviously, a bomber. I fell for it because of its extreme pattern. It's short and thereby make the legs look longer. I don't wear it as much as I used to do (take a guess, oh wait: colors!) but I love it and that makes it one of my fave vintage pieces.

For prom at my school I wanted to wear something simple and cool. It had to be a bit rock n roll even though it was prom. This GIORGIO AMARNI shirt I bought in London was exactly that. I know what you think: that's not rock n roll, but I bet you, when its on, it is.

This item is so fucking amazing because its so fucking Elvis. The sequins are funny yet not drag. I really love it.

This is my fave vintage piece. It's unique and so detailed. I bough it for my 'goodbye brunch' and that probely means there are some memories with it. Anyways it's so beautiful, the invite pattern is pearls and embroidery. I really love it.

What's your thoughts on vintage?
